Alice Capsey joins Melbourne Stars for WBBL08

Alice Capsey has signed for Melbourne Stars.

Teenage sensation Alice Capsey has joined the Melbourne Stars for WBBL08.

Known for her aggression at the top of the order, Capsey burst onto the scene in the inaugural edition of the Hundred last year, making a half century on debut at Lord’s for the Oval Invincibles and was named the inaugural PCA Women’s Young Player of the Year in 2021.

She has been a part of both championship winning Invincibles squads in the first two years of the tournament.

Capsey’s rapid rise continued in 2022 when she was chosen to play for England at the age of just 17 and most recently took part in Birmingham Commonwealth Games, where she averaged over 33 with the bat at a strike rate of over 125.

Capsey said she was looking forward to testing herself in the WBBL.

“I can’t wait to get to Australia, I’ve heard so many great things from the English players going over to the WBBL and I’m excited to experience that.

“I’m looking forward to playing against some of the best players in the world and playing in Australian conditions.”

General Manager Blair Crouch said he couldn’t wait to see Capsey in Green.

“We’re really excited to see Alice this summer and hopefully she can reproduce what she has already shown on the international stage in the WBBL.

“The WBBL continues to be the world’s best domestic T20 competition for women and it’s great to have a player of Alice’s skill and talent join the Stars family.”
