Blasters’ defence of 163 began wonderfully as Aliya Riaz continued her splendid form with the ball, dismissing Ayesha Naz in only her second over. Soon enough Ramin Shamim and Nashra Sandhu got into the act and Dynamites had been reduced to 30 for 3 in 10.1 overs.
Javeria Khan and Nida Dar, Dynamites captain, joined hands to restore some calm to the innings. The pair added 47 runs for the fourth wicket before Sandhu picked up her second wicket, dismissing Dar for an entertaining 32-ball 33. It was a knock that included three fours and two sixes, and made sure Dynamites were ahead of the game at that stage.
The captain’s dismissal triggered another mini-collapse— Javeria and the experienced Sana Mir being dismissed in the space of 12 runs. Before they knew it, Dynamites were staring down the barrel at 97 for 7 in the 29th over.
With their backs to the wall, Kainat Imtiaz and Maham Tariq joined forces. The pair batted wonderfully well, showing a great deal of fight in their 43-run stand. Tariq batted out 41 balls, collecting seven runs along the way, while Imtiaz brought up her half century.
However, with victory in sight, the former’s run out brought about some panic in the Dynamites’ ranks. Imtiaz was the last batter to be dismissed by Waheeda Akhtar for 56. Dynamites were bundled out for 155 in 49.1 overs; Riaz and Sandhu picking up two wickets each.
Earlier, riding on a patient 89-ball 44 from Ameen, Blasters found their way to a competitive 162 for 8 in 50 overs. They were heavily tied down by Dynamites spin quartet of Anam Amin, Mir, Dar and Ghulam Fatima who combined for figures of 39-6-119-7.
Tooba Hassan’s unbeaten, enterprising 28 helped hold the back end of the innings together.
