The former English seamer picked up 227 scalps in 173 matches across formats.
Shrubsole is eager to join the Vipers and expressed her ecstasy on getting the opportunity to work in tandem with Charlotte Edwards, Head Coach of the Southern Vipers. The 30-year-old is also delighted with the prospect of grooming some young seam bowlers during her stint with the Vipers.“I am really looking forward to playing for Southern Vipers and have the opportunity to work with and learn from Charlotte Edwards. Fast bowling is something I am passionate about so I am incredibly grateful to be given the responsibility to work with some young, exciting seamers as I transition into a life after international cricket. I have a lot to learn which excites me immensely and I can’t wait to get started,” said Shrubsole.
Adam Carty, the Regional Director of Women's Cricket South Central Region, also expressed his jubilation on the signing of Shrubsole as a player/coach for the upcoming season.
“I am delighted that we have been able to secure the signing of Anya for the coming season and beyond. Anya will be joining us in early May in the role of player/coach, and as a recent representative of Berkshire Women and current captain of the Southern Brave, the alignment felt a natural fit for Anya to become a Viper. Anya has vast international experience and her playing ambition remains strong, and as a coach, she will provide so much invaluable knowledge and support to our bowlers of today and prospects of tomorrow across our region,” said Carty.
