The women’s cricket team, winners of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2020 in front of a record 86,174 crowd earlier this year, topped the list, with the football team coming in a close second. The evaluation was based on fans’ emotional connection with national sporting teams. The women's rugby and netball teams slotted in at numbers three and four.
“The women’s teams performed very strongly because of the public respected them as hardworking and honourable. The level of trust is very high,” said Georgie Maynard, the director of True North.

Although fans’ connection with the men’s teams haven’t gone down since the last survey, there is more judgement about their past behaviour and how they carry themselves according to Maynard. “There was a bit of glow around the women’s cricketers,” she added.
