BCCI to form committee to look into compensation of domestic cricketers

The BCCI has decided to form a committee to look into compensation of the domestic cricketers for the 2020 and 2021 season, the board decided at the 8th Apex Council Meeting on Sunday (June 20). A suitable compensatory mechanism has to be found by the committee “at the earliest possible”.

The committee will comprise office bearers Sourav Ganguly, Jay Shah, Rajiv Shukla, Arun Dhumal and the others will be chosen from North, East, West, South, Central and North-east zones, Sportstar reported. This is believed to smoothen the process.

“The idea is to ensure that each zone should have a representation and accordingly, the Board can sort out the plan for compensation,” an official was quoted as saying to Sportstar.

Only the Senior Women’s Domestic Trophy was held last season and no other tournaments could be held. The age-group competitions were cancelled, as well. The Board had decided
