Nearly a month after the conclusion of the Women's T20 Challenge, a women's team from Kerala would be travelling to the United Arab Emirates for a 10-day tour. Play True, a player management company from Kerala is organising the tour for its women's cricket team ‘The Pathbreakers’ in the last week of December.
The team will comprise players from Meghalaya, Karnataka and Kerala as part of the company’s initiative ‘For Her’. They will be playing six friendly matches against various academies in the UAE.
Unveiling the team jersey at the Epic Cricket Academy in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday, District Collector Navjot Khosa appreciated the initiative according to a report by The New Indian Express.
"It’s a unique project and supporting girls should not be confined to providing educational facilities," Khosa said adding that such initiatives would help them come to the forefront in other activities too.
Sonia Anirudhan, CEO and co-founder of Play True, said that the tour is being conducted with a vision to give more opportunities to girl cricketers.
G Force Academy, one of the earliest cricket academies in the UAE, run by former Saurashtra player Gopal Jasapara would be working in collaboration with Play True in organising the tour.
