New Update
Cricket Victoria have announced their contract list for the forthcoming (2022-23) season. The list has 19 players including five centrally contracted players in Meg Lanning, Ellyse Perry, Annabel Sutherland, Georgia Wareham, and Tayla Vlaeminck.
The 24-year-old wicketkeeper batter Sophie Reid and 18-year-old opening batter Olivia Henry are the two new additions to the list.
Reid had played three games for Victoria in March this year. She has been rewarded for a phenomenal season that went by wherein she impressed both with the bat and behind the stumps as a wicket-keeper. Reid scored 493 runs in Victorian Premier Cricket and bagged 23 scalps with the gloves.

On the other hand, Henry also had a remarkable run in the Victorian Premier Cricket as she scored 324 runs. She also played for Victoria Metro in the recently culminated U19 National Championships in Adelaide.
Cricket Victoria’s Head of Female Cricket Sharelle McMahon mentioned that both Reid and Henry have a lot of potential and can continue to flourish in the days to come.
“Sophie Reid and Olivia Henry are players who have performed well in Victorian Premier Cricket and have been on our radar for a little while.”
“Olivia has been progressing through our pathway system and we saw Sophie debut in the WNCL last season. Both players are at different stages of their careers, but we see a lot of potential and growth to come from both of them.”
McMahon also told that the presence of several centrally-contracted players at Cricket Victoria helps in the transformation of the youngsters and it aids their grooming.
“We’re fortunate to have a number of Australian-contracted players, allowing us to provide more opportunities to players coming through the Women’s Premier Cricket pathway. With seven of our 19 contracted players 21-years-old or younger, we’re in a strong position to continue to develop our best talent.”
Anna Lanning, Lara Shannon, and Amy Vine were some of the names that missed out on the contracts for the upcoming season.
