Darcie Brown re-signs with Adelaide Strikers for three years
Australian international Darcie Brown has re-signed with Adelaide Strikers for three years in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL), announced the club in a statement on Tuesday (November 23).
The 18-year-old Brown was selected in the Australian squad after a stellar performance in her sixth edition of WBBL. She made her international debut against New Zealand in March 2021 and earned her maiden national contract in April 2021.
Speaking from Adelaide Oval, ahead of their ‘Eliminator’ against Brisbane Heat, Brown reflected on her decision. “I’ve been a big supporter of the Strikers ever since the BBL started, so (to) be able to sign on is pretty cool; I have had so much fun the last few years. I’ve loved every minute of being a part of the Strikers and I can’t wait for more.”
During the seventh edition of the WBBL, Brown was instrumental in Adelaide Strikers’ campaign as she took 15 wickets in the group stage of the competition, including a hat-trick against Brisbane Heat. Since her debut for the Strikers in the previous season, Brown has taken 25 wickets with an average of 19.92.
The right-arm fast bowler was selected in the WBBL07 “Team of the Tournament” alongside her teammates Tahlia McGrath and Amanda-Jade Wellington. Strikers will face Brisbane Heat at the Adelaide Oval on Wednesday (November 24) in the “Eliminator”. The winner of the “Eliminator” will face Melbourne Renegades in the “Challenger”. Finally, the winner of the “Challenger” will face Perth Scorchers in the grand final at Optus Stadium in Perth on Saturday (November 27).
