All-round Deandra Dottin: Fastest T20I century, best bowling figures in T20 World Cups and more
Deandra Dottin is currently playing international cricket for Barbados in the Commonwealth Games 2022. On Monday (August 1), the West Indies allrounder announced her retirement from international cricket in less than ideal circumstances.
The 31-year-old said that she will continue to play in domestic leagues all over the world. That means we will see Dottin adding to her numbers in the T20 format, but her West Indies career has come to a close as of now and she will end her international career with whatever remaining matches Barbados play in Birmingham 2022. But the maverick allrounder has done enough in her career to rack up impressive numbers and records.
Women’s CricZone lists a few of Dottin’s number from an illustrious career that spanned 14 years, with 269 matches across the limited over formats.
0 – Like most of her team-mates, Dottin didn’t get an opportunity to play Test matches due to the sparse nature of Women’s Tests. West Indies last played a match in the format in 2004, four years before her international debut.
1 – Dottin is the only player to score centuries and take five-wicket hauls in both ODIs and T20Is. She has five centuries and two five-fors to her name in international cricket.
3 – Dottin is one of only three players from the West Indies to score more than 1000 runs and also take more than 50 wickets in both ODIs and T20Is.
5/5 – Dottin’s bowling figures of 5 for 5 are the best bowling figures by a West Indies bowler in T20Is. Among the full members, only Esther Mbofana (6/11) and Amy Satterthwaite (6/17) have better bowling figures in the format. They are also the best bowling figures by any bowler in T20 World Cups. Her effort came during the group match against Bangladesh at the home T20 World Cup in 2018.
6 – Dottin is one of the six players to score two centuries in T20Is and the only West Indies player in the list.

38 – The number of balls it took for Dottin to reach her maiden century in T20Is. It’s still the fastest century in the format. She became the first women’s T20I centurion when she made that 112 off just 45 balls against South Africa during the T20 World Cup 2010. This magnificent knock came during the T20 World Cup 2010 in West Indies and that was only her fourth match in the format.
