Jhulan Goswami was a ball-girl at Eden Gardens during the Women's World Cup 1997 and she went on to become the leading wicket-taker in ODI history. Cut to 2025, Jhulan Goswami will have a stand named after her at the iconic Eden Gardens. This honour will be unveiled in January by Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).
Goswami retired from cricket in 2022 at the iconic Lord's after an eventful career of almost 20 years and she has more than 300 wickets to her name in international cricket. She is also captained India for a period. She featured for India in multiple Cricket World Cups and T20 World Cups before she hung up her boots.
Goswami was part of the Indian side that made it to the final of Cricket World Cups of 2005 and 2017. She has played for India in all three formats. More than that she went on to inspire a lot of young fast bowlers in Indian women's cricket and continues to inspire the likes of Renuka Singh Thakur, Arundhati Reddy, Shabnam Shakil and a host of others.
