Grace Harris’ all-round performance helped Queensland Fire to claim an easy win over SA Scorpions:
Queensland Fire won the toss and elected to bat first. They got off a good start as their openers Grace Harris and Kirby Short added 35 runs before the later got dismissed by caught and bowled to Betts. Jess Duffin went for a duck in the same over. Harris along with Josie Dooley tried to resurrect their innings and both added a 131-run partnership for the fourth wicket before Dooley got out by giving a catch to short third man, by Betts.
Birkett was the next to folllow, scoring 15 off 30. Grace Harris stood strong at the other end, scoring a blitzy 162 off 114 and along with her, Laura Harris' quickfire 40-ball 62 guided their team to put up a huge competitive total of 326 at the end of the 50 over.
Samantha Betts did a wonderful job by picking 5 wickets in 10 overs; while Wellington scalped 2. McGrath, Lowe and Price bagged one each for SA Scorpions.
Chasing 327 became tough for the SA Scorpions as they lost their opener Bridget Patterson for 2. Soon Tahlia McGrath followed her in the dug out; after having scored 1 off 19. Tabatha Saville and Tegan McPharlin tried to steady the ship, adding 67 runs before Saville's soft dismissal.
After having scored a well-made 162, Harris became the pick of bowlers by scalping 5 wickets in the innings. Her 5-wicket haul dismantled SA Scorpion's batters as they were reduced to 128/7 from 84/3. Some economical spells from the bowlers helped to restrict SA Scorpions within 203 and claimed a comfortable 123-run win over them.
Grace Harris was adjudged the 'Player of the Match' for her brilliant all-round performance.
