"Dane has shown her quality again," said Moreeng. "The player that she is, how she leads the team and what she does under pressure (is good to see)."

Van Niekerk has scored 187 runs in the five matches and is only behind India's Jemimah Rodrigues in the top run-scorers list in the competition. She has scored two unbeaten half centuries in run-chases in The Hundred. She also has taken six wickets with her leg spin.

It is a welcome return to action for the South African skipper, who last played the Women's Big Bash League in November 2020. A lower back injury ruled her out of the home series against Pakistan as well as South Africa's tour to India earlier this year.

"We know the quality we have in her," said Moreeng.

"The injuries have just been frustrating for both player and country. So we are just happy she is playing again. With the time that she's been away from the game, this opportunity to play cricket again is valuable for the country going forward."

"So as soon as we can start touring again, we know we will have her available again. So it is a blessing for us as a country," Moreeng concluded.

Apart from van Niekerk, Marizanne Kapp and Shabnim Ismail are the other overseas players in the Invincibles set up. However, Ismail has missed the last three games that they have played while Kapp has not taken part in the competition after the opening game.
