India moves up to third place in the ICC annual T20I rankings

This update is based on rankings that ignore results from 2016-17 and gives 50% weightage to the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons and the 2019-20 matches at 100%. India (270) moved one point ahead of New Zealand (269) to take the third position in the shortest format. Meanwhile, Australia and England retained their top positions with 291 and 280 points respectively.

Brazil saw a massive improvement in their rankings as they moved up to 27th after earning 15 points in the rating period. Malaysia dropped down to 38th rank while Samoa, Indonesia and the United States of America advanced to 16th, 20th and 31st ranks respectively.

In the 50-over format, Australia retained their top position as a result of their impeccable record during the ranking period. They won 20 out of the 21 matches they played and added eight points to their tally (160) extending their lead over second-ranked India by 39 points.

Despite losing four points each, India (121) and England (119) managed to retain their second and third positions respectively. Meanwhile, South Africa (107) overtook New Zealand (94) to fourth place, and Bangladesh (61) went past Sri Lanka (47) to eighth place in the ranking table. West Indies (85) and Pakistan (77) saw a rise in their rankings to sixth and seventh place respectively.

Meanwhile, Denmark, Belgium and Qatar lost their place in the ranking table. While the first two have not played any matches since October 2017, Qatar has played a lesser number of games than the required six during the period.
