Pakistan received a blow ahead of the first T20I of their three-match series against South Africa with Javeria Khan being ruled out of the game due to a finger injury. Aliya Riaz will captain the team in her absence.

Khan dislocated her right index finger during a training session on Thursday (January 28), according to a statement released by the Pakistan Cricket Board. However, X-rays have confirmed that there is no fracture.

The decision to rest her from the first match was taken in consultation with the team doctor. Her progress would be monitored and her availability for the second T20I on Sunday will be taken closer to the match.
