Cricket doesn't guarantee you a fixed time of play. You need to let your performance do the talking to stay in contention. Fitness also plays a major role in enhancing your career.

Specialty in a particular field helps one build a strong foundation for a long career. It is difficult for someone who enters into it based on multiple skills to survive for long.

Yes, being an all-rounder is the toughest job for a Cricketer. An all-rounder can easily be dropped for various reasons; be it lack of form, a team wanting to go for an extra batsman or team wanting to go for an extra bowler.

Amidst all this, Jenny Gunn has emerged as a champion cricketer for the England Cricket Team. Recently, during the T20I tri-series (India, Australia, England) which Australia won, Gunn became the 1st player (both Men's and Women's) to feature in 100 T20Is. In a format such as T20 which is so unpredictable, this is a big achievement.

Gunn has had a career where she's been through highs as well as lows. But she's survived it all and is still playing. She made her T20I debut in the first ever T20I match as an 18-year-old in 2004. She is the only player still playing from the ones who played the first T20I (both Men and Women).

Due to having a double-joint at the elbow, Gunn has been twice reported for "Chucking". She's been cleared by the ICC on both occasions though. She's developed a slower ball, termed as "Whiff" by the current England skipper Heather Knight.

Gunn has the ability to restrict the flow of runs through her variations. She has a T20I 50 adding to a 5 wicket haul in T20Is. Gunn has an economy rate of 6.38 and SR of just 17.9 which is really good.

Gunn was a part of England's win in the Inaugural Women's World T20 in 2009. She also played in the runners-up finishes for England in the World T20 in 2012 and 2014.

Players like Jenny Gunn are an invaluable asset to their team. They can contribute and be a differentiator in any of the 3 departments of the game.

Gunn is still just 31 years old and can continue for a few more years easily. It requires an extreme amount of commitment, dedication, discipline and passion to continue playing for so long. Thus, Gunn would be looking forward to the T20 World Cup later this year and increase her longevity in the game of Cricket.
