Jess Duffin, Melbourne Renegades skipper, will be available for the clash against Brisbane Heat on Wednesday (November 20) in the Women's Big Bash League. Duffin missed the match against Sydney Sixers due to illness.
After narrowly missing out in several tight finishes, Renegades finally got the monkey off their back, defeating Sydney Sixers in a last-ball thriller on Sunday (November 17). Courtney Webb was their hero, smashing a six off the bowling of Marizanne Kapp to seal a two-wicket win.
Duffin will take back the reins from Molly Strano who led the side in their previous encounter. She will not only add great value as a leader, but also much needed stability and form to the batting unit.
So far this season, Duffin has collected 271 runs in seven innings, at an average of 54.20 and strike rate of 138.97, including two half-centuries.
In another change to the squad, Anna Lanning has been named as a local replacement for Claire Koski who was ruled out of the tournament due to a shoulder injury. The WBBL technical committee has approved the inclusion of Lanning. The 25-year-old right-hand batter, was part of the Renegades squad last season too, have previously turned out for Melbourne Stars.
