Having elected to bat, opener Rachel Priest got Blaze off to a typically blistering start, crashing 38 off 24 balls. In the company of Maddy Green, she added 47 runs for the second wicket in quick time before being dismissed by Mikaela Greig in the 10th over. The wicket of Priest though did not put brakes on the run-scoring as Green (31) and Sophie Devine (29) took up the mantle. Once the pair was separated, it was Amelia Kerr's 25-ball 38 at the back-end of the innings that propelled Blaze to a target well beyond the reach of Central Hinds.
In reply, Hinds got off to a poor start, collapsing to 51 for 4 in 6.1 overs. The fast bowling duo of Hannah Rowe (22) and Rosemary Mair (16) attempted to pull the innings back on track, but there was little they could do to stop the rampaging Blaze. A lack of any partnerships or meaningful contributions further hurt their progress.
The pair of Kerrs, Amelia and Jess, were the wreckers-in-chief for Blaze, taking six wickets between them to bowl out Hinds for 121 in 19.1 overs. Jess finished with figures of 4-13, while Amelia took 2-27.
Brief Scores: Wellington Blaze 170/5 in 20 overs (Rachel Priest 38, Amelia Kerr 38) beat Central Hinds 121 in 19.1 overs (Hannah Rowe 22; Jess Kerr 4-13, A Kerr 2-27) by 49 runs.
