Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first. Openers Muneeba Ali and Ayesha Zafar added 38 runs before the former got dismissed after scoring 18. Soon, Zafar and Ameen joined her in the pavilion. They didn’t get the start which they are accustomed to and soon got reduced to 61/3 within 18 overs.
Pressure fell upon captain Javeria Khan and the middle-order batters. Khan tried to steady the ship but no other batters were able to stay there for a long time. Middle-order collapsed miserably. They couldn’t find their momentum back as Kubra sent back Nida Dar and Umaima Sohail within 23 overs. Javeria Khan top-scored with 29 off 46 before getting dismissed by Kubra.
Kubra became the first woman from Bangladesh to take the five-wicket haul in an ODI. Her career-best six-for is the best ODI figures by any Bangladesh player ever. Kubra's six-wicket haul, Ahmed's two, Mondal and Alam's one each restricted Pakistan within a below-par score of 94 on the board.
Chasing 95, Bangladesh lost both their openers, Ayasha Rahman and Sharmin Akhter, very cheaply. But Fargana Hoque and captain Rumana Ahmed built a steady 81-run partnership for the third wicket. Both of them fell when the scoreboard read 87 after having scored 48 and 34 respectively. Lata Mondal and Fahima Khatun added the remaining 8 runs and the home team reached the target within 35 overs.
Sana Mir bagged two wickets while Diana Baig picked up one for Pakistan.
