New Update
The Western Province Cricket Association announced a 20-member squad for the 2020-21 domestic season on Friday (October 16). Coach Claire Terblanche will be at the helm for both the CSA Women’s Provincial 50-over and T20 competitions that begin in January.
The duo of Laura Wolvaardt and Nadine de Klerk - both of whom were part of South Africa's squad for the T20 World Cup in March, and are also set to take part in season six of the Women's Big Bash League in Australia - are two of the biggest names in the side. They will be joined by fellow internationals Lara Goodall, Andrie Steyn, Faye Tunnicliffe, Sinalo Jafta, Saarah Smith and Stacey Lackay. The group will be expected to hold the squad together, providing stability and experience to what is a relatively young group.
Terblanche said she is pleased with the look of the squad and expects the players to put in good performances through the season. "With a number of high-performance players in our squad, they can help get the entire team to level-up as a group," she said.

Interim WPCA CEO Tennyson Botes has said that under Terblanche he would be expecting the team to continue their success from the previous season. “Coach Claire has built up a strong work ethic in her team that has a good mix of youth and experience," he said. "Our WP Women’s team represent this affiliate with pride and we wish them well for the coming season and hopefully there’ll be two more trophies in the cabinet come the end of the season.”
WPCA Cricket Services Manager Clinton du Preez congratulated the players for the most successful team in the province and wished them well for the upcoming season.
“A strong group of players have been retained and coupled with a combination of young players showing much potential towards the sustainability of the team, it is very exciting to boast about the blend of experience and youth, produced from our Club, School and Hub structures.”
Western Province will kick off their season against Border in the opening round of 50-over matches beginning on January 9, 2021. All international players are expected to be available for much of the season.
