Maddy Green is Brisbane Heat's final signing for the upcoming season of Women's Big Bash League starting next month. The 26-year-old allrounder is known for her tremendous ball-striking across the white-ball formats. Green will join her fellow New Zealand teammate Amelia Kerr in the Heat squad.

Green's big-hitting was on display when she smashed 121 off just 77 balls and helped New Zealand post a record 491 for 4 against Ireland in Dublin in June 2018. She debuted in T20Is as a 19-year-old against Australia in Sydney in 2012. Her ODI debut came two years later. Green has represented New Zealand in 67 matches combined in T20Is and ODIs.

Heat coach Ashley Noffke is pleased to have a player of Green's caliber and is looking forward to working with her.

“She’s a very versatile cricketer who can fill several roles for us,’’ Noffke said. “Her international experience will complement our squad nicely".

"Maddy has been vice-captain of the White Ferns and captained teams domestically, and her leadership and commitment to the teams she is a part of were highlighted to us when we began the recruiting process.”

Noffke is excited about the upcoming season and believes Heat have put together a strong squad that can help them defend their title.

“We’re really excited about what lies ahead. Our Australian players Beth Mooney, Jess Jonassen and Delissa Kimmince are doing great things for the national side and the Queensland girls have put in a lot of hard work during the off-season to get us to the eve of the tournament in good shape".

The WBBL will commence under lights at North Sydney Oval on October 18 and end on December 8.
