Megan Schutt will return to captain South Australia in the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) against Tasmania on Tuesday (January 7).
The Australian speedster had missed South Australia’s first two clashes as she was on national duty on Australia’s tour of West Indies in 2019. She picked up 11 wickets across formats, including a hat-trick in the final ODI. She continued her form in the Women’s Big Bash League, where she was named in the Team of the Tournament also.
Apart from her, Suzie Bates, the New Zealand allrounder, will also feature in the side after she made her South Australian debut against New South Wales in September 2019. She has amassed 430 runs in the Super Smash currently, topping the batting charts with two matches to go in the league stage.
Megan Schutt and Bates aside, the side to take on Tasmania will also have the likes of Bridget Patterson, Tahlia McGrath and Amanda-Jade Wellington, all of whom were a part of Australia A that faced India A. Patterson currently is the leading run-scorer in this year’s WNCL.
Squad: Megan Schutt (c), Tahlia McGrath, Suzie Bates, Darcie Brown, Emma de Broughe, Sam Betts, Eliza Doddridge, Ellie Falconer, Tegan McPharlin, Annie O’Neil, Bridget Patterson, Alex Price, Amanda-Jade Wellington.
