New Zealand wins an absolute nail-biter as Suzie Bates brings it home for her team despite Jemimah's blistering knock of 72 runs for India. The White Ferns win the match by 4 wickets and clinch the series 2-0.
New Zealand won the toss and chose to field. India replaced Anuja Patil with Mansi Joshi. Due to Frankie Mackay's injury in the previous T20I, she was replaced by Anna Peterson who had a 4-wicket haul in the ODI against India.
India stuck with their opening combination, Priya Punia along with Smriti Mandhana. After a cautious first over of 2 runs, Mandhana was dropped by Hannah Rowe on 3 in the next over. Rowe had taken a much talked about the catch of the match which turned out to be a game changer to get Mandhana out in the previous match. Shortly after Punia fell to a delivery by Devine. Jemimah Rodrigues came to the crease to partner up with Mandhana. They both made a stand of 63 off 43 balls. Mandhana went for the maximum straight down the ground but it caught by Suzie Bates at the boundary. India lost their star batter at 36.
Jemimah Rodrigues had to continue to help India get to a satisfactory score. Harmanpreet Kaur managed to score just 5 runs before getting out to Kasperek. Hemalatha was retired hurt just after a 2 of runs, as she slipped and fell while running between the wickets. Deepti Sharma was run out by Katey Martin. With a boundary, Rodrigues brought up her half-century. Katey Martin missed a stumping chance of Jemimah for Amelia Kerr. "Amelia Kerr's not too happy with me right now, I'll get her a stumping next time!" said Martin on air.
Martin redeemed herself by stumping Jemimah off Amelia Kerr for 72 off 53. The last over bowled by Rosemary Mair in which she took a wicket of Arundhati Reddy to end the innings with 2 wickets for the 17 runs. India ended their set of 20 overs with 135 runs.
Sophie Devine and Suzie Bates opened New Zealand innings. Radha Yadav bowled out Sophie Devine, for 19 runs off 16 balls and 3 boundaries. Suzie Bates went on to score 62 off 52 balls with five fours. Gurrey 4(11) fell quickly. Poonam Yadav got the skipper Satterthwaite for 23 off 20 after which Bates to fell for a bad shot straight to Rodrigues off Reddy. The new batter Anna Peterson was on the strike getting out in the same fashion to Reddy in the same over.
Reddy changed the course of the game for India to bring them back in the game. Mansi Joshi bowled the final over which required 9 runs. Katey Martin hit the ball to the cover for a boundary. On the next delivery, Mansi Joshi knocked her stumps out making it a nail-biting contest of 5 runs of 4 deliveries. Hannah Rowe took a single but an overthrow cost India an extra run. Needing one run of the last ball Rowe placed the ball comfortably to bring the game home for White Ferns.
