Allrounder Danielle Gibson has recieved her maiden T20I call-up as England named their squad for the T20I leg of the multi-format Ashes series on Wednesday (June 28). Pacer Issy Wong has also made a comeback to the side having been not part of the 15-member ICC Women's T20 World Cup squad 2023 in South Africa.
22-year-old Gibson plays for Western Storm in the England women's regional structure and also represents London Spirit in The Hundred.
The T20I series will start on July 1 with the first match at Edgbaston in Birmingham. Having lost the one-off Test, England need to win five of the six limited over fixtures to regain the Ashes with Australia looking favourites to retain the Ashes. Australia currently have four points that they gained from the convincing win at Trent Bridge.
"We’re really looking forward to our T20Is in the next part of our Ashes Series. A number of those selected have performed exceptionally well for England A in their short format fixtures and it’s great to have them back with us," Jon Lewis, England head coach said.
