Cricket Scotland, on Tuesday (September 2), announced their 15-member squad ahead of the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup in the UAE in October. This will be the nation's first-ever outing in the Women's T20 World Cup.
Star all-rounder Kathryn Bryce will be in charge of the team, with her sister and wicket-keeper Sarah Bryce being the deputy. Kathryn will be joined by fellow all-rounders Priyanaz Chatterji, Katherine Fraser and Megan McColl.
Scotland qualified for the ninth edition of the tournament after finishing runners-up behind the current Women's Asia Cup winners Sri Lanka in the qualifying tournament, also held in the UAE earlier this year. They recently performed strongly in a tri-series against Netherlands and Papua New Guinea.
Off-spinner Olivia Bell and former skipper Abbi Aitken-Drummond have also been included in the squad.
Scottish head-coach Craig Wallace said, “The makeup and balance of this squad is outstanding. We’ve got match-winners from start to finish within it, which I think is the big difference in the evolution of this squad during my short tenure. People have been putting in crucial performances each time they step onto the field, and that runs right the way through the squad."
The T20 World Cup debutants have been placed in Group B alongside Bangladesh, England, South Africa and West Indies. They will take on Pakistan and Sri Lanka in warm-up games before kicking off their T20 World Cup campaign against Bangladesh in Sharjah on October 3.
