Cricket Australia (CA) has announced Australia squads for the limited over series against West Indies on Friday (September 8). Meg Lanning continues her absence after deemed unavailable for selection by CA while Alyssa Healy and Ellyse Perry return from their injuries that saw the miss the final ODI of the Ireland tour and The Hundred - Women's Competition.

“Meg is progressing well but remains unavailable for competitive cricket. No date has been set for Meg’s return to play, however, we anticipate a gradual return through domestic cricket," Pip Inge, Australia women's team doctor said. "CA medical staff will continue to work closely with Meg and an update on her availability will be provided in due course.”

Australia have named 13-member squads for both the formats. Alana King will replace Grace Harris after the T20I leg for the ODIs that are part of the iCC Women's Championship (IWC) for the cycle 2022-25.

Healy, who captained Australia in The Ashes as well as during the Ireland tour, will continue to lead the side in Lanning's absence. Allrounder Tahlia McGrath will remain Healy's deputy for the six-match series that's scheduled to start from October 1.

“We saw the depth of talent and flexibility within the squad which toured England and Ireland in the winter and as a result have selected similar squads for the upcoming series," Shawn Flegler, CA’s Head of Performance (Women’s Cricket) and National Selector, said.

McGrath captained Australia in the final ODI against Ireland with Healy missing the match owing to a finger injury while Perry had a knee injury that she suffered during the second ODI.

“Alyssa and Ellyse are on track in their return to play programs. Both are well placed to take part in Women’s National Cricket League matches later this month and are expected to be fully available for the upcoming international series," Flegler added.

“Alyssa embraced the added challenge of captaincy during the Ashes and will again lead the team in Meg’s absence. We’re fortunate to have plenty of international experience and strong leaders within the squad and know she will be well supported. Although currently unavailable for selection, Meg remains an integral part of our team and we’ll continue to support her throughout her return to play program."
