WPL 2024: Mumbai Indians to face Delhi Capitals in season opener

WPL 2024 to be played from February 23 to March 17. The tournament will start in Bangalore and the final set to be played in Delhi

The second edition of the Women's Premier League (WPL) will be played from February 23 to March 17. The first 11 matches are in Bangalore and the second half including the Eliminator and the Final to be played in Delhi.

The WPL 2024 will begin with the defending champions Mumbai Indians taking on runners-up Delhi Capitals at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. Unlike the first season, there won't be any double headers in the second edition and all matches will be played at 7:30pm IST across 24 days.

WPL had a successful inagurual season in 2023 with five teams - Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, UP Warriorz, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Gujarat Giants - playing 22 matches across two stadiums in Mumbai. In the final of the tournament, Harmanpreet Kaur led Mumbai Indians beat Meg Lanning's Delhi Capitals by seven wickets.

Royal Challengers Bangalore will have their first home fixture of the competition when they clash against UP Warriorz on February 24. Gujarat Giants will their start the campaign on February 25 wit hthe match against Mumbai Indians. Eliminator between the second and third placed team after double round robin matches will take place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on March 15 and the team that finishes top of the table will take on the Eliminator winner on March 17 at the same venue.
