Allrounder Nicola Carey is set to continue her Women’s Big Bash League stint with Hobart Hurricanes for two more years, the club announced on Friday (August 13). It will be her third season with the purple-clad outfit.

Carey picked 11 wickets in WBBL06, second-most for Hurricanes. She also contributed 158 runs with the bat and took seven wickets as well.

“As a team, we were disappointed with our overall performance last season, so we’re definitely keen to improve on that this year,” said Carey.

“However, there were still some great moments and individual performances last year, so building on that, along with the work we’ve been doing in the off-season and the people we’ve recruited, we really just can’t wait for the season to start and get out there and show what we can do.”

Apart from Carey, Hurricanes have finalised Maisy Gibson, Rachel Priest, Chloe Rafferty, Amy Smith, Naomi Stalenberg, Molly Strano, Belinda Vakarewa and Tayla Vlaeminck so far for WBBL07.

Hurricanes finished last in WBBL06, winning just three of their 14 games in the season.
