The Northerns senior squad for 2020-21 season was announced on Wednesday (April 22) by the Northerns Cricket Union. Mignon du Preez and Sune Luus are the two notable names in the 18-member squad which has the right blend of youth and experience.

"Selecting these squads has not been an easy process considering the pool of talented players we have in the pipeline." said Charlotte Serwardi, cricket services manager at Northerns Cricket Union. "I believe we've selected strong and well balanced squads which will give us options tactically for the different formats."

Du Preez was the first South African to play 100 T20Is during the World Cup match against England. She capped off the game in a memorable way by hitting a six and a boundary to hand South Africa an incredible win over England for the first time in a World Cup match. Luus too had a memorable outing with the bat in hand, and scored a match-winning half-century against Thailand, when promoted up the order. The two senior players will bring a great deal of experience and calm to what is otherwise a young group that is keen to make their mark at the domestic level.
