New Zealand women won the toss and elected to bat first. The White Ferns lost their first wicket of Sophie Devine 6(7) in the second over. Maddy Green and Amy Satterthwaite fell soon after. New Zealand found themselves on
31 for 3. While her fellow batters found scoring difficult New Zealand’s captain Suzie Bates kept scoring with relative ease.
Katey Martin was able to support Bates as New Zealand looked to post a competitive total. Katie Perkins 14(9) and
Suzie Bates 65(57) remained unbeaten at the end of the innings. The White Ferns produced their lowest total of their three in this series and put
126 for 4 on the board. Pakistan’s bowlers did their job excellently to restrict the White Ferns for such a low total.
Pakistan had their best chance of getting back into the series with a win and with a target of 127 runs at a
required rate of 6.35 per over, it was their best chance. Both the openers Sidra Ameen and Nahida Khan produced a good partnership of 39 runs from the first five overs. Sidra Ameen 16(13) was the first to go as Devine trapped her lbw in the fifth over and was followed by
Nahida Khan 23(18) in the very next over run out by Bates.
Pakistan kept losing wickets at regular wickets and only Sidra Nawaz and Natalia Pervaiz could reach double-figure marks. Pakistan was
bowled out for just 84 after 19 overs.
Hannah Rowe picked up
three wickets and
Amelia Kerr got two,
Sophie Devine removed dangerous Sidra Ameen and that was the turning point, from there Pakistan women collapsed.
