The Perth Scorchers announce the signing of talented Queensland all-rounder Jemma Barsby for the next two Women’s Big Bash League seasons.

The 23-year-old has taken more than 50 wickets across the first four seasons of the WBBL, and possesses the incredible ability to bowl both left and right handed.

Boasting career best figures of 4-2, Barsby said she’s looking forward to a fresh challenge in the West after playing in last year’s Grand Final win with the Brisbane Heat.“I’ve been in the Queensland set up for nine years now, and thought it was the right time to try something new and take my game to the next level,” Barsby said.

“It’s really exciting to have the opportunity to play under the Australian captain, Meg Lanning, to be able to learn from her and see what it requires to take my cricket to another level was a big reason for the move.

“Playing at the WACA Ground and at Lilac Hill in front of the Members and fans is going to be awesome, I can’t wait to get over there and show everyone what I can do.”

Scorchers Head Coach Lisa Keightley said Barsby would be a valuable addition to the squad, who will add further depth to the bowling and batting line up.

“It’s exciting to have an experienced spinner in the Scorchers line up,” Keightley said.

“Her impact for the Heat was instrumental in helping them reach their success last season.”

“Jemma is a real competitor on the pitch, she reads the game well and can adjust to any situation.

“I’m looking forward to working with Jemma and seeing what she can do for us over the next couple of seasons.”
