Priya Punia has parted ways with Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA), the Times of India reported on Saturday (July 17). She had switched over to Rajasthan as a professional from Delhi ahead of the 2020-21 season.

Punia didn’t play the Women’s Senior One Day Trophy last season as she was with the Indian squad for the series against South Africa. She has not yet decided on the team to play for in the upcoming season. The One Day Trophy is set to begin on September 21 with the T20 tournament to follow later. Rajasthan managed to win just one of the five Group C matches last season.

“The promises made by the RCA while hiring Priya’s services as a professional were not kept,” Surendra, Priya’s father and coach, was quoted as saying.

“In the last few days when I tried getting in touch with RCA office-bearers, some did not take my call and the others avoided talking about the problems we were facing with the association.”

Punia was part of the Indian squad that toured England recently but didn’t get a game.
