Shafali Verma regains top spot in ICC rankings for T20I batters

Verma has scores of 23 and 47 in the first two matches of the series against South Africa. She first was ranked the number one batter after her stellar run in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2020, where India finished runners-up.

Lizelle Lee, who’s had a stellar tour of India, gained three spots to be placed at 11th. Her team-mate Laura Wolvaardt, who made a fine 53 in the second T20I, gained five positions and is on 24th. Sune Luus and Nadine de Klerk also rose in the order and are the 38th and 74th ranked batters respectively in T20Is. Harleen Deol is on 99th position after her maiden international fifty.

De Klerk, who bowls seam, is the 68th ranked bowler in T20Is while Ayabonga Khaka and Nonkululeko Mlaba are placed 35th and 75th respectively. Rajeshwari Gayakwad, who was on 34th is now the 25th ranked T20I bowler.

In the ODI rankings, Marizanne Kapp has overtaken Stafanie Taylor and is second only to Ellyse Perry is the list of allrounders. Kapp also is second in the ODI rankings for bowlers. Mignon du Preez, who had a good ODI series against India, is ranked 16th in the list of batters. Mithali Raj, India’s ODI captain, gained a spot to be on the eighth position.

South Africa’s 4-1 ODI series win over India also sees them leapfrog England to the second position.
