Sri Lanka has announced their squad for the England series which is to be played on their home turf. England has played Sri Lanka in 14 ODIs in Sri Lanka with 12 wins in their kitty. The hosts will look to change the record in their country.
Sri Lanka comes on the back off a 3-0 loss in both formats against South Africa. England has also lost to India 2-1 in the ODI series. The teams play for the crucial ICC Women’s Championship points and a clean sweep will elevate England to the second position of the table.
Sri Lanka played England in a bilateral series in 2016 which was clean swept by England. The last time, teams encountered each other was in during World Cup 2017 which England won by a mammoth 118 runs. In T20I, the visitors have been unbeaten against the hosts in seven matches - England has won five and two had been abandoned.
England is currently 5th in the ICC ODI Championship whereas the hosts are ranked 8th. There is a slight change in the squad from South Africa tour of Sri Lanka with inclusions of Inoshi Fernando, Hansima Karunaratne, Hasini Perera.
Sri Lanka will begin the tour with three ODIs on March 13th, 16th and 18th which are part of ICC Women’s Championship One-Day International series followed by three T20I starting from the 24th, 26th and 28th March 2019.
