“It is really unfortunate. I am still in shock. We don’t know the reason for her death but she was perfectly fine till last season. She was very promising. The news has left us in deep shock,” Chanda told

We conducted some online classes but we were not aware of her family problems,” Chanda said when asked if she had any family or mental issues due to the lockdown. Ayanti hailed from the Reang tribe from Tainani village under Udaipur subdivision, about 90 kilometers from state capital Agartala.

Tripurainfo.com, Ayanti was in a state of depression over the lack of opportunity to practice and play cricket during the lockdown and was confined in her home. It was also understood that there was a quarrel between her parents on Monday (June 15) night over a trifling matter and while trying to pacify and disengage both, Ayanti was reportedly abused and ill-treated by her father. She also used to play club football for Champamura Club.
