Uganda begin training with 24-member squad ahead of Africa Qualifiers

Uganda Cricket Association has announced a 24-member squad for a training camp to prepare for the ICC  T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier, which is scheduled to happen in Botswana next month (September).



The squad started their preparations on Wednesday (August 4) at the Lugogo Cricket Oval. Prior to the camp, all the members of the squad were tested for COVID and turned negative. 



The training will happen under the government SOP to make sure that the players are in a safe environment. 



Head Coach Suraj Karavadra and his assistant Alpha Adowa will oversee the training of the players as they have been divided into four groups. Players from Soroti, Jinja and Kampala are included in the squad. 



Uganda will be up against the other ten countries -Botswana, Cameroon, Namibia, Nigeria, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe - in the Botswana Qualifiers. 



Squad for training camp: Rachel Ntono, Damalie Busingye, Shakira Sadick, Proscovia Alako, Ritah Musamali, Naome Kayondo, Kevin Awino, Esther Ilukor, Stephanie Nampiina, Immaculate Nakisuyi, Janet Mbabazi, Evelyn Anyipo, Irene Alumo, Patricia Malemikia, Eunice Kobusingye, Sarah Walaza, Consy Aweko, Teddy Ayella, Phionah Kulume, Sarah Akiteng, Carol Namugenyi, Leona Babirye, Mary Akello, Gloria Obukor.
