United Stated having already won the series 2-0, the final match was of a mere academic interest. It was an opportunity for Canada to register their first win whereas for the USA it was a matter of clean sweep.
USA gave debut to Atkins and Kodai. USA won the toss and elected to bat first. Their openers Gruny and Rendler departed early with the score of 1 and 7 respectively. It was the No. 3 batter Bhaskar who played a blitz inning and made 30 runs in 19 deliveries with 6 fours. When she departed with the score of 39-3, she made 30 runs out of the total.
It was the skipper Sindhu who took the responsibility of putting up a respectable score. She remained unbeaten with 42 runs off 33 deliveries with 3 boundaries and a six. With Wallerson she put up a 65-run partnership for the fifth wicket. USA finished their inning with 116-6 on board. Zia took 3-22 for Canada.
Chasing 117 to win, Canada made a solid start and put up 29 for the first wicket in 6 overs. They could not capitalised on the start and lost wickets in regular intervals. The USA bowlers and in particular Lisa Ramjit was very economical to restrict the flow of runs. In 20 overs, Canada could only post 81 runs for the loss of six wickets.
Zia was the highest scorer for Canada with unbeaten 15 runs and Ramjit took 3-11 for the USA.
The USA won the match by 35 runs and wrapped up the series 3-0. Sindhu was declared player of the match.
The United States will enter the qualifying tournament in Scotland as winners of Americas region and they will meet Asian Champions Thailand, East Asia-Pacific Champions Papua New Guinea and African Champions Zimbabwe. Bangladesh and Ireland have already qualified for the tournament alongside the hosts Scotland. Winners from European qualifiers will be decided in June.
