Choosing to bat in Anand, Uttarkhand started steadily through an opening-wicket stand of 52 between Megha Saini (33) and Ankita Dhami (38). It provided them the foundation to reach 102 for 3. Rekha, the captain, then led the way with the ball with figures of 2 for 16 to restrict Tamil Nadu to 96 for 9.
Tamil Nadu seemed in control till C Shushantika, their opener, was at the crease. She made 48 but was run out in the 18th over, and the chase lost track.
Meanwhile, Odisha put up a dominating performance against Mizoram. Batting first, they rode on opener Kajal Jena’s unbeaten 112 to post 221 for 2. She hit 17 fours in her 56-ball knock to finish with a strike-rate of 200. Mizoram had little clue against the bowlers, falling for 17 in 12.3 overs.
Jena is the second batter in the tournament to make a century after Himachal Pradesh’s Shefali Verma made 132 on Tuesday.
Baroda (Group A), Maharashtra (Group B), Himachal (Group C), Bengal (Group D) and Railways (Group E) are the respective table toppers after three days of competition.
