In Mulapedu, Bengal posted 129 with five wickets down, after opting to bat. Mitali Paul’s 30 was the highest score in the innings, that had some useful 20-somethings too. Rumeli Dhar, who made 27, was out mankading. In reply, Uttar Pradesh could just reach 98, losing nine wickets in the process at the end of 20 overs. Shrayosi Aich’s three wickets did the damage.
If there was something called domination and demolition, it was in display in another game at the same venue. Vanitha Vellaswamy’s 69 off just 36 balls helped Karnataka absolutely decimate Andhra Pradesh, who had just posted 96 for five in their 20 overs. Karnataka overhauled the target with close to nine overs to spare, thanks to Vanitha.
Meanwhile, Jharkhand were handed their third defeat in the Super League by Baroda, who, on the back of an unbeaten 55 by Yastika Bhatia, scaled the 100-run target in the final over of the match. Jharkhand were restricted to 99 for 9 in their innings with Shalini Sharma and Kesha Patel picking up seven wickets between them.
In the fourth clash of the day, Himachal Pradesh and Maharashtra played out a tie, sharing points for the outing. Shivani Singh’s unbeaten half century helped Himachal post 117 for four. In riposte, a slow progress cost Maharashtra as Mukta Magre’s 43 wasn’t enough. Tanuja Kanwer, fresh from the Emerging Asia Cup, picked up three wickets, giving away just 14 runs.
