West Indies Women won the toss and elected to bat first. Having won the series already West Indies were in full swing. Hard hitting
Deandra Dottin fired with her bat and entertained the crowd. Hayley Matthews and Dottin ruined the game plan of
Sri Lanka and they carried their innings into the 18th over and shared in a stand of 121 runs for the 2nd wicket, Hayley Matthews contributed 34(40) before being run out.
Deandra Dottin was by this time on fire. She smashed
112(67) it was a damaging knock for Sri Lanka who had no answers to her batting. West Indies had managed to score
159 from their 20 overs. It was the highest scoring match of all the series. Sri Lanka would have to bat remarkably well to chalk up at least one lone win on their travels.
Things were made all the harder when
Chamari Atapattu made her way back to pavilion without scoring. Sri Lanka found themselves
14 for 2. It was up to
Shashikala Siriwardene and Wicket-keeper
Rebeca Vandort batting with a great chemistry. They both completed their half-centuries and took the innings to the 20th over but this was not enough to secure the win for Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka finished
128 for 5 and lost the game by
31 runs. The current
World T20 champions showed just how good they were in this series, and Sri Lanka showed just how far they have yet to go.
Hayley Matthews was the pick of the bowlers and grabbed
4 wickets along with a good economy rate.
